About Uruguayan Principles related to AI Adoption

IS Media Network SAS (hereinafter, “the Company”), in full awareness of the regulatory, ethical, and societal implications arising from the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, hereby formally declares its adherence to the principles, objectives, and action lines established under the "Uruguay National Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2024–2030" (hereinafter, the “Strategy”), issued by AGESIC, Government of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay.

Legal Basis and Purpose

This Statement is issued in good faith to demonstrate the Company’s alignment with the Strategy and to evidence its intention to operate digital services in a manner consistent with applicable Uruguayan law, international standards, and best practices in the governance, deployment, and oversight of AI systems.

Adopted Principles

The Company expressly adopts and undertakes to observe the following guiding principles, as reflected in the Strategy and related governance frameworks:

• Ethics and respect for human rights: ensuring dignity, equality, and non-discrimination in all AI-related processes.
• Transparency and explainability: maintaining documentation and providing disclosures concerning any significant AI use cases and outcomes.
• Security and risk management: implementing appropriate technical and organizational safeguards to mitigate potential harms.
• Privacy and data protection: complying with applicable data protection regulations and recognized international standards.
• Inclusion and fairness: avoiding discriminatory outcomes and ensuring equitable access to technological benefits.
• Capacity building: promoting ongoing training and awareness within the Company’s workforce regarding AI risks and obligations.
• Responsible innovation: fostering technological development consistent with ethical and regulatory norms.

Scope of Application

This Statement applies to all internal processes, technological developments, and digital services operated by the Company. Notwithstanding the foregoing, it is expressly clarified that the Austral News platform (austral.press) does not employ AI tools for the creation, drafting, or editorial decision-making of journalistic content. All editorial determinations remain the exclusive responsibility of human editors. Limited technical automations, such as integrations with content providers or metadata management, may be deployed solely for operational efficiency, and always in compliance with the principles set forth herein.

Specific Undertakings

In furtherance of the foregoing, the Company undertakes, without limitation, to:

• Conduct impact assessments prior to implementing automated processes that may materially affect rights or legitimate interests of individuals or entities.
• Maintain adequate technical and administrative records of automated systems and their decision-making logic where relevant.
• Adopt and maintain robust security measures consistent with prevailing regulations and best practices for data governance.
• Provide ongoing training to personnel involved in the design, implementation, or oversight of automated processes.
• Establish and publicize accessible communication channels for inquiries, complaints, or requests related to automated or AI-enabled systems.
